Reunion Planning
Planning Update - August, 26, 2008
We've chosen a band and they are beginning to put together music from our era. They're already practicing for our event in 2009 so that they'll be the best ever! They are even going to the resort this weekend to look over the room so that they understand the dynamics & equipment they will require. Wow! Do you have certain songs you would like to hear? Send me the song names and I'll make sure your song is on the play list. They will be playing some country & western music also so let me know your preference on those songs too.
The deposit on the hotel has been made so we're "locked" in. It's scary but I feel sure we'll have the turnout we need to break even.
Thanks to Myrna, Carmina Gallegos, Becky Hernandez, Rhonda Sexton, Jacque White & Ann Mahan on their support, invaluable help in locating classmates & their many ideas. Their excitement is motivating! Thanks also to Jeremy Vigil (Myrna's sweet son) who has worked countless hours on the music portion of the reunion.
I've heard from a couple of people regarding Morenci memorabilia that we will be able to display at the reunion. If you have anything in your attic from your high school days, please dust it off & bring it with you to display.
What do you think about having a drawing? Do any of you have an item that you would like to donate for a drawing at the dance? I know we have many talented people who are artists, craftsman or have something they would like to donate. We have John Lee Peshlakai who is an outstanding artist, for instance. Give me some feedback on that.
Reunion Committee Meeting - June 7, 2008
What a good, fun time we had getting together to plan our reunion. We met at Carefree Resort in Carefree, AZ & viewed the property. Those attending the meeting were Gary Rains, Marsha Bradford (Cluff), Jacque White, Myrna LaHaie (Bull), Anne Romer (Mahan) and me, Vicki Hedrick (O'Neal). Myrna's sweet husband, Joel, made us a pan of lazagna & we sat down and dined & chatted.
Earlier that day, Myrna and I had the opportunity to tour the facilities. Being up the mountain from Phoenix, the air was clear, it was about 5 degrees cooler, the stars were visible and the feeling of being at a retreat was prevalent. We were extremely impressed with the resort & are tying up contracting the hotel for the reunion. There are LOADS of activities available from making glass, golf, nature walks, campfire stories, swimming, spa, or just plain solitude & relaxation!
We went through the list of classmates and there are more that we DON'T know where they are than the ones we DO know where they are. A mailing will be going out within the next month that will outline the details. Please don't assume that we know where our classmates are but email me with their contact information.
We are planning a reunion that will be very memorable & very special for our 40th! I hope you will make plans now to join us in 2009. Be on the lookout for the mailing and start making your plans to be with us on May 22-24, 2009. Everyone is welcome!
